Key Achievements

Ghana has conducted eight presidential and parliamentary elections since 1992, all resulting in peaceful transfers of power. The 2000 and 2008 elections — which saw ruling parties hand over power to opposition — remain models for democratic transitions across the continent.

The Free Senior High School policy has benefited 5.7 million young Ghanaians. Junior High School completion rates reached 94% by 2023. The 2025 No-Fee Stress Policy further removed tertiary admission fees, making higher education accessible to all.

The discovery of the Jubilee oil field transformed Ghana into a significant petroleum producer. Revenue has been channelled into infrastructure, education, and social programmes through the Petroleum Revenue Management Act framework.

Ghana leads West Africa in mobile financial services adoption. Over 40 million mobile money accounts have been registered, enabling millions of previously unbanked citizens to save, transfer, and access credit through their phones.

The Year of Return campaign in 2019 welcomed over 500,000 members of the African diaspora to Ghana, generating $3.3 billion in revenue. The initiative strengthened Ghana's soft power and positioned Accra as a global Black heritage destination.

Significant investment in roads, hospitals, airports, and ports has transformed Ghana's connectivity. The Kotoka International Airport Terminal 3, multiple regional hospitals, and 16-region administrative restructuring have improved services nationwide.

Ghana has committed to ambitious nationally determined contributions under the Paris Agreement, investing in solar energy, reforestation programmes, and climate-smart agriculture. The Renewable Energy Act creates a framework for clean energy transition.

Ghana has consistently played a stabilising role in West African affairs, hosting ECOWAS headquarters in Accra and contributing peacekeeping forces to regional and international missions in Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and beyond.

The Black Stars have qualified for four FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2022). Ghanaian athletes in boxing, track & field, and individual sports have earned Olympic medals. Ghana's 2010 World Cup quarter-final run remains a historic continental moment.
